Resumo

I will discuss a proof of classical results by Grauert, Manin, and Samuel on the finiteness of rational points for non-isotrivial curves defined over function fields, based on geometric height inequalities by Vojta (characteristic zero) and Kim (positive characteristic). Differential equations/foliations are key to establish these geometric height inequalities. 

I will explain how to adapt the arguments to obtain analogue results for non-isotrivial Campana orbifolds of dimension one over function fields of characteristic zero (due to Campana) and also positive characteristic (joint work with Kebekus and Smeets).
