Resumo

Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field. Bézout's theorem is a classical result in the theory of plane algebraic curves defined over $k$, i.e. curves contained in the projective plane $\mathbb{P}^2(k)$, which concerns the number of intersection points of any two such curves. In this talk I will try to explain the main ideas behind this theorem, and then I will state —and prove, if time permits— a version of it for $\mathbb{P}^1(k)\times \mathbb{P}^1(k)$.
