In the last few years we have experienced a revolution in the imaging domain with the introduction of consumer-level 3D (depth) cameras.  The next generation of the cameras are destined to be embedded in every laptop and mobile device by the end of 2015, enabling a broad set of new applications affecting the user interface and image and video capabilities.

In this talk I will describe two video processing applications enabled by depth cameras. The first is gaze correction, solving a persistent problem in personal video conferencing applications (e.g. Skype, Google Hangouts).  The second is novel view synthesis, enriching the interactive viewing experience. Both application make use of depth cameras and incorporate sophisticated data processing on the GPU at real-time rates.
